I wasn’t going to eat out this month. I was going to save money. It was going to be great. And then he got sick.
The Boy spent last weekend in Ohio hanging out with some friends. It was his birthday and neither of us puts much stock in the “this is how you are supposed to do things” deal so I didn’t care he was going to be not with me. I had a ton of stuff to do last weekend anyway. It’s also way easier to bake like a madwoman when he’s not in the house.
He sent me a text Tuesday morning on his way home, “Soooooo sick…”. The best part of this is that he wasn’t coming straight home, he had a day of work. He works hard too. Very few people could top how many hours he’s worked straight through. And he doesn’t sit, on his job he is constantly moving. Not going to lie, I would die if I had to do his job. I’m pretty careful not to complain about my job to him because, well I have it easy.
They sent him home early. Early is relative, as in they sent him home after only 12 hours. I could have, and probably should have, nagged him about not working and etc. But he’ll do what he’s going to do. When he’s really sick he’ll let me baby him, before that not so much.
As soon as he came home I turned around and left to do the grocery shopping. Having only one car sucks sometimes. I had a list and coupons and all that jazz. He called me while I was out to add things, cough drops, NyQuil/DayQuil, Mucinex, etc. I gathered all the supplies and dethroned @JustRightJim from his Mayorship at Costco. It was a good evening of shopping.
After I unloaded groceries I was chatting up my neighbor about him, saying that I was trying to get him to go see the dr. He get bronchitis very easily and around this time of the year. Just as I was telling her that he’s not coughing anything up so it’s not bronchitis, he sends me a text saying, “So, the bronchitis has settled in. Any point from now on would be okay to see a doctor. Also: cheeseburger and fries?”
HAH. I took him to MedExpress. They were really great. Faster than our dr’s office for sure. They didn’t test him for flu, just assuming it is, all the symptoms match. If his fever/s don’t go away in a day or two then we’ll go back.
Then I took him to McDonalds. At this point I was just so happy he wanted to eat.
